The Auto Belay Device takes away the need for the climbing instructor to operate the belay so that climbers can climb safely while the instructor is freed to offer coaching advise.
The North Auto Belay Device can be used with a full body harness and is available with a choice of an 8mtr, 10mtr or 12mtr galvanized steel cable.
It has an in-built automatic quick retraction function to permit repeated descents, along with a variable descent rate of between 0.7 - 1.2 mps dependant on the weight of the climber.

What warranty is provided?
The manufacture offers a 12 months warranty on all parts in the device.
What safety standards does the block comply to?
The North Auto Belay comes from a family of firmly established industrial fall protection equipment and complies to the following European standards:
1) CE-Directive 89/686: EN341: 1992/A1:1997 class A
2) CE-Directive 89/686 prEN341: 2002
3) North self certification for Climbing Auto Belay is based on EN341 but includes wear testing requirements that is three times higher then EN341
What maintenance & servicing regime is required?
Applied Safety Solutions always advise that the Auto Belay is checked several times BEFORE any climber uses it. You will also need to keep a log of regular full visual inspections (please see user manual for further details) The Auto Belay also requires a 6 monthly internal inspection, by Applied Safety Solutions Ltd either at our workshop or on site. Please contact us for further information. Present cost per device is £85 plus an on site fee (if done at your premises) and any spares required. (Typically a replacement cable is £76.00.)
What about backup & service support?
The North Auto Belay Device has been in the market domain for at least 5 years. In that time, the product has gone through two upgrades. Any old devices in the market are upgraded in the standard servicing regime, free of charge. Applied Safety Solutions Ltd have been exclusive service agents for the product since 2008. Previous to that North had other routes to market hence we cannot comment on the service and back up history prior to 2008. Dedication to the customer however, is our prime goal any spares will be held as a stock item by us.
