Head Protection is required in almost every industry where there is the risk of being injured by falling objects or when working in areas of restricted head space.
The function of a hard hat is to absorb the
impact energy and reduce the risk of permanent neck injury. The Personal Protection Equipment at Work Regulations 1992 state that a hard hat should be fitted comfortably to the wearers head. The wearer should be able to adjust the size to acheive this and this adjustment should allow for the wearing of a cold weather liner underneath the hard hat when needed.
